University of Nebraska-Lincoln Processing Course

Spend the day enjoying Omaha with stops at Bakers Candy and a tasting session at Soaring Wings Winery.

Note: This event is open to participants who are 21 years of age and older only. Activities cost $50, and we recommend pre-registration due to space limitations.

Meat Processors Convention Highlights

AAMP 2024 kicks off on Aug. 1 with a keynote by Tom Oar of The History Channel’s “Mountain Men.” He is also the uncle of AAMP President Tom Eickman.

The conference will also have a range of over a dozen educational sessions covering:

The Largest Trade Show Floor Yet

This year’s show will be the largest in the history of AAMP, with over 330 booths filled with new opportunities to learn about networking technologies and key purchases to grow your business. Be sure to walk every aisle and see all the exhibit has to offer.

Social Events and Networking

AAMP isn’t all business; there’s time to socialize and network, too. Enjoy social functions, starting with a welcome reception on Wednesday evening and culminating in a formal dinner on Saturday. The Thursday evening activity at the Durham Museum is an optional event.

Induction into the Meat Industry Hall of Fame

August 2 at 5:00 p.m. kicks off the Meat Industry Hall of Fame Induction and Reception at the CHI Health Center. This is where The AAMP inducts famous meat industry figures, such as past AAMP members Ed Woods, Clarence Knebel, and Gary Crane.

American Cured Meat Championships (ACMC)

The American Cured Meat Championships is the only national competition that judges cured meat products within the United States.

• The best product will receive The “Clarence Knebel Best of Show Memorial Award.”
• The best overall plant will receive the “Cured Meats Excellence Award.”

There are 29 categories, including the Specialty Beef Product class and a university competition for students.
